MDG Spectre by CGVickers MDG Spectre by CGVickers
Taking a break from the Mirage series, I wanted to try another design though still stick to mecha so this was the result. It was coloured with pencil crayons and inked for better visibility. I originally tried to design it to transform into a simpler shape like a torpedo or missle shape for easier storage/launching.

this is the most impressive one :worship::worship::worship:
I like this one, especially if you add some "serpent" + "wing" component

Thank you very much : ) What is or are serpent + wing components?

Its as if you took the YF-19 from 'Macross Plus' & the Neue Ziel from 'Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory' and merged them.
That is one extremely badass looking mecha. I know most won't realize this, but that is superb spots you have for the verniers & the balance point on this (just below the waist) is excellent. Please do more!

Very confident image. I love the color value scale. although subtle, it says alot. If you could, I would like to know what brand of pencils you used. Im trying to bring color into some peices, and I feel you have a nack for seeing subtle color changes. To be honest, the particular one is very similar to what I would like to use for color. I'm using Prisma Color, they are expensive, yet they do not work well on the paper Im using with them. Any advise you could lend me would be greatly appritiated. Again, this is awsome! I would love to see where you are going with this series of works.

Funily enough, I use prismacolour pencil crayons myself. If it helps, I'll track down the colour codes for you. I find that useing black to help shape the image first is key. Don't press too hard and just get the rough idea down. Then depending on the type of paper, perhaps use a blending stump to help shade it a little before useing the white to lay the final touch. If you use a sketch pad, put something hard under your paper so that the paber doesn't get imbeded too much. I hope that makes sence : )

Makes perfect sense. Thank you for your advice, I will give it a try. I think my mistake was using the white of the paper for my highlights, and not the white of the pencils. You said laying the black is key, do you basicly mean color from dark to light? I also like the idea of using pen to strengthen the lines, I will also try that. I will let you know how this works out. Again, thank you very much.
